I am a painting graduate from Gray’s School of art, currently based in a studio in Glasgow. Human activity, relationships and behaviour are always at the centre of my ideas. I am fascinated by figurative painting in particular and the visionaries who have reinvented its representation, meaning, and aesthetic. My own subject matter depicts figures locked in a moment in time and which hold rhetorical reference to the everyday. The figures are healthy in colour and comfortable in their own skin. The compositions are heavily designed to interweave shapes, objects and expressive forms. These pictorial structures suggest an imbuing of the human condition with the material world. Shapes and objects become forms which bind the figures together or which separate them from one another.
